We want to be thankful to God for the smooth running of the recently concluded Vacation Bible School (VBS), which took place last week from 4th to 6th December. Over 30 children aged 4 to 12 attended the event, along with helpers from the Teenagers class, and various adult helpers and teachers.
If your child did not manage to attend this year’s VBS, never fear! You can look forward to VBS 2024. If your child attended this year’s VBS, we hope that you will make plans for him or her to attend again next year! Here are 3 reasons for your child to attend the next VBS.
#1 – COMPANIONSHIP
The VBS is a great opportunity for your children to spend time in the company of other children, who are all participating in God-centred activities for 3 days. In the book of 1 Corinthians, Paul reminds us that “Bad company ruins good morals” (1 Corinthians 15:33 – ESV). Worried about the worldly influence that your children might be exposed to during their school holidays? Why not make plans for them to attend VBS 2024!
#2 – COUNSEL
The VBS is also a great opportunity for your children to be influenced by the counsel and life examples of godly teachers, who have dedicated long hours to preparing and presenting their Bible-based lessons and activities. The Proverbs writer instructs us that “… a child left to himself brings shame to his mother” (Proverbs 29:15b). Instead of leaving your children to their own devices during the December 2024 school holidays, why not make plans for your children to attend VBS 2024, where they will be influenced by the counsel and advice of God-fearing adults who are around your children?
#3 – CONFIDENCE
For VBS 2023, the children were exposed to age-suitable lessons to affirm their confidence that the Creation account in the book of Genesis is reliable and accurate. They were also given responsibilities such as cleaning up after lunch, and tidying up messes, to build their confidence and create a sense of responsibility in being able to perform these tasks. The apostle Peter instructed us to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18a). Make plans for your children to attend VBS 2024, where they will be exposed to lessons that will build their confidence in the inerrant, inspired Word of God, and where they build their confidence as they grow into responsible teenagers and young adults.
