Start the Day with a Song: Putting God First in Every Season

“No matter what yesterday was like, birds always start the new day with a song. May your heart sing with hope and your spirit soar with joy!”
These words, shared from the heart of a sister who has weathered many storms, speak volumes about the grace and strength that God provides. Whether we are thriving or barely hanging on, whether life feels like a mountain top or a slow trudge through the valley, God remains faithful.
Many of us, especially sisters juggling the demands of family, work, health, and faith, may feel overwhelmed or spiritually distant at times. But Scripture gently reminds us: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5–6)
The message is simple, yet powerful: Put God first. When we prioritise our walk with Him, everything else, our roles, relationships, even our burdens, will fall into place according to His perfect timing and plan. It may not always be easy, but it is always worth it.
We may look around and see sisters who seem to have it all together. Some may be caring for little ones without much help. Some are navigating motherhood, career, and ministry without fanfare. Yet in all these stories, one truth remains: it is God who strengthens, provides, and blesses. One sister once shared, “I just told myself to pass one day at a time.” And isn’t that what Jesus tells us too? “Do not worry about tomorrow…” (Matthew 6:34)
So, to the sister who feels alone in her struggles, to the mother learning to care for her first child, to the wife wondering if she’s doing enough, to the single sister battling doubts and fatigue: you are not forgotten. You are not without help. You are not walking alone.
You are part of a family of faith. And God, our ever-loving Father, is near to you. He gives you the energy for today and the grace for tomorrow. And when we commit our day to Him, even our limitations can become a blessing. One sister shared how her condition, which leaves her in a high-energy state due to medication, has become an opportunity to pour her thoughts and drive into serving God more meaningfully. God truly works wonders, even in our weakness.
Let us also treasure the blessings we have: our spouses, our children, our earthly and spiritual family; they are not burden, but gifts to steward. “Put God's blessing into good use,” she wrote, “and not turn it into a curse.” Wise words for any season.
As sisters, we are all on different journeys but let us encourage one another to keep our eyes on Christ, lean into His Word, and serve with the joy and humility that comes from knowing we are His.
And if you’ve been away—away from worship, away from fellowship, know that you are missed. God longs for your return, and so do your sisters. We look forward to seeing you again, sharing in songs, in smiles, and maybe even in warm, home-baked bread from a loving hand.
May your heart sing with hope today, dear sister. And may every morning begin with the confidence that “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)
